Business Development Specialist

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a Business Development Specialist to support Avion Solutions. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Identify and research potential clients, markets, and business opportunities within the U.S. defense sector.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, military branches, and defense contractors.
  • Analyze defense market trends and competitor activities to inform strategic planning.
  • Participate in networking events, conferences, and meetings to promote the company.
  • Maintain accurate records of business development activities, and opportunities, using customer relationship management platforms.
  • Prepare regular reports on business development progress and market analysis specific to the defense industry.
  • Assist in the development and execution of business development strategies and plans tailored to the defense industry.
  • Conduct analysis and identify areas for growth and improvement in defense-related offerings.
  • Maintain opportunity pipeline and ensure business development milestones and deadlines are met.
  • Support proposal activities as needed.
  • Collaborate within the Business Development team, including Capture Managers, Program Managers, Contract Managers, and the Proposal team.

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of experience in business development or a related role within the defense industry.
  • Understanding of the U.S. defense market and government contracting principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time. US travel only.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
